Hospitals are experiencing unprecedented disruption and change as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now more than ever, institutions and practices need physicians in leadership who have the skills and experience to lead teams in complex and ever-changing environments. The STS Leadership Institute provides an opportunity for early career (0-7 years in practice) and mid-career (8-15 years in practice) cardiothoracic surgeons who are STS members to learn about core leadership skills that are imperative for success in this health care environment.
The STS Leadership Institute includes five events: three virtual sessions and two in-person meetings. The capstone event will take place in San Diego, California, adjacent to STS 2023. Attendees will work in tracks specific to their career standing at various points throughout the program. Ample face time with a faculty of prestigious leaders will be provided. Selected applicants are required to participate in all five events of the series. Notifications have been sent to participants.
Upon completion, graduates receive a certificate that could be meaningful in support of promotion, tenure, and other career advancement opportunities.
