The STS Mentorship Program is an exclusive benefit for STS members at any career level. Mid-career and more senior surgeons are encouraged to serve as mentors, to help guide early career CT surgeons along a successful career trajectory. Early career surgeons can request a mentor, but also serve as mentors themselves to help students and general surgery residents interested in our specialty or guide CT surgery residents through the transition into their first job.
STS wants to provide opportunities for networking and personal and professional growth to its up-and-coming diverse membership, and you could play a pivotal role in this effort!
Surgeons: select the appropriate option below, and complete the submission form. A few weeks after STS receives your application, the Mentorship Task Force will match you and facilitate your initial contact by email.
For Medical Students and Residents/Fellows
The Mentorship Program connects medical students seeking training, career and other advice from cardiothoracic surgery residents/fellows. Apply to be matched with a resident/fellow mentor or apply to mentor a medical student seeking guidance. Provide your contact information and notate your level of training and areas of interest (e.g., residency application process, residency interviews, rotations, awards and scholarships) to assist in creating the best mentor/mentee match. This program is in partnership with the Thoracic Surgery Medical Student Association.
