STS 2025 will take place January 24-26, 2025, in Los Angeles. Prominent surgeons and researchers will deliver and debate the latest science and techniques to propel the specialty forward and elevate the standard of care for patients. All attendees will have ample opportunities to connect and engage.

President's Column

I have enjoyed the late arrival of Fall with the warm days of summer spilling into September. Michigan is finally experiencing some crispness in the air with Fall colors brightening the landscape. I hope you are enjoying Autumn with your family and friends.

There is a lot of buzz within the STS as we ramp up for an outstanding Annual Meeting, which will take place January 24-26, 2025, in Los Angeles. We have incredible speakers and content with something meaningful for everyone. Kudos to Dr. Stephanie Fuller, Workforce on Annual Meeting chair, the entire Program Planning Committee, and the staff who have been visionary and innovative with the content and structure.

Ian Bostock, MD, thoracic surgeon, has joined the team of cancer care specialists at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute. Dr. Bostock also serves as an associate professor of surgery at Florida International University.

Goya Raikar, MD, has joined the Division of Cardiac Surgery at WVU Medicine J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. Trained at the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Raikar is a known figure in robotic cardiac surgery, often having served as a proctor for growing programs. He joins WVU Medicine from the DeBakey Heart Surgery Center of the Wisconsin Froedtert Hospital, where he served as chief of cardiothoracic surgery.

Romualdo ‘Peter’ Segurola, MD, a cardiothoracic surgeon, has joined HCA Florida Heart and Vascular Care in Miami-Dade County.‌ Previously, Dr. Segurola was in private practice for 15 years at South Florida Heart and Lung Institute.

Englewood Health in New Jersey has appointed Alok Dash, MD, to its cardiovascular specialists team. Dr. Dash, specializing in cardiothoracic surgery and subspecializing in aortic disease surgery, received his MD from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.

Cardiothoracic surgeon William Smith, DO, has joined the North Oaks Cardiovascular Institute in Hammond, LA.
